Book 24: Peace
The Ghosts of the Suitors in Hades—Ulysses and his Men Go to the House of Laertes—the People of Ithaca Come Out to Attack Ulysses, But Minerva Concludes a Peace.
Hermes leads the ghosts of the suitors to the underworld, where they meet Agamemnon and Achilles. Odysseus goes to his father Laertes, who is old and living on a farm, and tests him before telling him who he is.
The families of the dead suitors gather to take revenge. Laertes kills Eupeithes, the father of Antinous. Athena then orders the fighting to stop and makes peace between the two sides.
