Book 8 in short: The feast and the games

A feast is held and the bard Demodocus sings of the Trojan War. Odysseus hides his tears. In the games that follow he is taunted, throws the discus beyond all others, and shows his strength.

Demodocus sings again, and Odysseus weeps openly. Alcinous asks his guest to say who he is.
