Chapter 16: Narrative Continued by the Doctor: How the Ship Was Abandoned

Dr. Livesey takes over the story. On the Hispaniola, the captain and the loyal men learn that Jim has gone ashore with the pirates. The doctor rows ashore with Hunter, finds a stout log-house with a spring, and decides they should make it their fort. They begin to carry stores there, and Abraham Gray, one of the crew, joins the loyal party.
