Chapter 25: I Strike the Jolly Roger

On the ship Jim finds that two pirates have been fighting, one dead and the other, Israel Hands, badly wounded. Jim takes down the black flag. Hands strikes a bargain with him: if Jim gives him wine, food and a bandage, he will help sail the ship into a safe place.
