Book 1: The quarrel of Achilles and Agamemnon

A priest of Apollo comes to the Greek camp to ransom his daughter, but King Agamemnon sends him away, and Apollo answers the priest's prayer with a plague. Achilles calls the army together and Agamemnon is forced to give the girl back. In return he takes Briseis, the prize of Achilles, who angrily leaves the fighting and asks his mother, the sea-goddess Thetis, to have Zeus help the Trojans.
